The typology dedicated for art exhibition, the museum, is incompatible with the current production of culture and knowledge. This first provocation is the engine for the questions that the dissertation proposes to develop: the subversion of the traditional museum model as a hypothesis to generate knowledge on a urban scale. Through the design of an exhibition path, the aim is to make visible the experience of marginalized communities in the symbolic center of Rio de Janeiro - between Morro da Glória and Ponta do Calabouço -, where Parque do Aterro do Flamengo is located today. The design of a deviant path, based on a curatorial methodology, starts from research on the place and its past, as well as on the subversive dimension of its contemporary occupations and its ghostly memories, guided by cuíer experiences in this area of the city. From this constellation of subversive occupations, a ghostly condition is established, which becomes the central object of this investigation. The path induces debate in the public space as a methodology for building a network of memories. Carioca public space is recontextualized in the light of structuring events, however erased from the urban materiality, with curatorship as a tool to establish possibilities for a cuíer cartography.
This project corresponds to the author's masther thesis - "Rio fantasmagórico: projeto de uma exposição cuíer para o espaço público" defended in Faculdade de Arquitetura da Universidade do Porto, Portugal (2023). Oriented by Ana Neiva and co-oriented by Lucas Reitz.
